As a photojournalist, the collapse of Rana Plaza (a multi-storied building that housed five apparel factories), was a political turning point in my life. The magnitude of the tragedy revealed the horror of corporate violence for us. The tragedy that shook the world made news headlines, but it took only ten days for global attention to die down, and the site of quickly became part of the ordinary landscape. It was the first experience when it became blatantly evident to me that news is an industry. It was also the first experience when I responded to my activist calling.
